Wassergeist - Ghost from the Water

I wanted to try something in darker colors than usual. I had something totally different in mind at first, but this is what I ended up with.

Photoshop CS3, and playing around with the textures =resurgere

Very cool. This is like the Nix from mythology, right? :)

I like the texture. It makes it look like an oil painting. And the figure is very well done too.

Lovely work!!! I like how you used the textures and the blues, and the glow of the pic gives a really touch of mystery!

Nice concept. I love the blue colour in this. I especially love the textures at the top of the image. Great detail too

I like the folds and cracks in the background. Also the colors are very good and the transition from light to dark really fits well. Also nice painting.

That was the positive, now the constructive ;)

The composition somehow isn't right. Because (s)he's looking to the right, the deviation is vertical. I would make it less tall, and broaden it more to the right.

I love the color scheme used in this, it's (as others have said xD) very good for what you're trying to get through.

However, I think it might have looked better if you tried making the spirit more... spirit-y. It looks far too solid, for a moment there I thought the bright blue at the top was supposed to be it.
Try fading it at some point- fade is a cheap and easy tool to get away with ghosting something without destroying your image.

I've got some different feeling about this.

First of all I love the coloring and how the figure got some of the background colors in it.

Secondly I like the background itself. It made me think of a woody area and made me think of a lake in a forest or something.

If it should have been perfect, I think you should have made the border of the 'wassergeist' more blurry, to make it a little more ghostly.

All in all great details, great colors and a beautiful picture.!

i like how the figure matches the same coloring as the atmosphere around her, giving her a ghostly or other-worldly feel. (ah, yes, water ghost haha). the fact that she likes to stay near the darkness or bottom shows she wants to be alone and has accepted her fate as ein wassergeist. ha very nicely done :D
